Centre for Independent Living in Toronto (CILT)
The commission is designed for artists interested in symbolic, metaphor-driven visual storytelling inspired by shared social values and lived experience. CILT is seeking artists who are open to a collaborative development process involving storyboarding sessions and feedback from staff members while maintaining their own artistic voice. The project particularly centres Deaf and disabled artists with intersecting equity-deserving identities and aims to amplify disability-led creative perspectives within a public-facing organisational initiative.
Paid commission for art work.
Applicants should be Deaf or disabled artists with an active creative practice and lived experience of disability. Preference is given to artists based in Toronto or the Greater Toronto Area, or those able to travel to CILT’s Toronto office for in-person collaboration sessions. Candidates must complete an application process and submit the required materials outlined in the official PDF guidelines. The opportunity is collaborative in nature and suited to artists comfortable working through feedback and values-based dialogue.
