About the Open Call

The CIBC C2 Art Program (C2 Art) is designed to launch the careers of emerging Canadian artists. Selected participants undergo a 6-month artwork creation period, collaborating virtually and in-person with CIBC to curate their exhibitions. The program covers shipping of artworks, framing, and display materials. The judging process involves two rounds: a technical/aesthetic review and a video interview for finalists. Artworks must be wall-mountable or pedestal-ready, excluding digital, screen-based, or projected works.

What is Offered

$25,000 award released bi-weekly, all-expenses paid trip to Toronto for the opening reception, funding for shipping, framing, and display hardware, and a solo exhibition opportunity.

Requirements

Legal residents of Canada of legal age; physically present in Canada during creation; 2-10 years of professional artist experience with exhibition history; not currently enrolled in post-secondary studies.

How to Apply

Submit the program submission form (PDF), a 250-word artist statement, a 250-word exhibition proposal, an artist CV, and five sample images of previous work in JPEG format. All materials should be sent via email to Mailbox.C2art@cibc.com with the subject line 'Full name — C2 Art Submission'. Total email size must not exceed 25 MB.
