Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center
Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center invites emerging and established artists to submit original artworks to ‘Chronicles: Storytelling Through Imagery.’ Since the dawn of human existence, people have been using visual art to communicate stories. From the cave paintings of Lascaux to intricate hieroglyphs of ancient Egypt, art has been a fundamental way for people to document their experiences, beliefs, and feelings. Chronicles: Storytelling Through Imagery will explore the power of visual narratives by bringing together artworks that weave compelling stories using symbolism, composition, and emotion. These works will highlight how contemporary artists engage in this age-old tradition by capturing moments, myths, and their personal histories in striking and imaginative ways. This exhibition is open to all materials and mediums. 2-D and 3-D artwork will be considered for this exhibition. Indoor and outdoor installations will be considered. Annmarie is a Smithsonian Affiliate located in scenic Solomons, Maryland, on the Chesapeake Bay.
Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center takes a 40% commission on all gallery sales. Transportation grants, typically ranging from $50 to $150, are available through the Artist Accessibility Fund to help artists shipping works from outside the region with shipping costs. Grants are awarded on a need basis.
All work must be completed within the last four years. Artists must be 18 years or older and living and working in the United States or Canada. Artists are required to submit an Artist Resume or CV (max 25MB) and an Artist Statement (max 300 words). Up to 4 artworks can be submitted. All image files must be in JPEG format.
Artists can submit up to 4 works through the online application system for a $25.00 non-refundable fee. All image files must be in JPEG format and labeled as LAST NAME_ENTRY NUMBER_TITLE (e.g., Walters_1_Ray of Sunshine). Detail or installation photos should be denoted with letters (e.g., Walters_2a_Beach Day). For video entries, artists must submit still images via the application and then email the full video to exhibits@annmariegarden.org. Applicants must also submit an artist resume or CV (PDF or Word document, max 25MB) and an artist statement (max 300 words).
