The Center for Art and the Political Imaginary (CAPIm)
The Center for Art and the Political Imaginary (CAPIm) Summer School 2026 gathers artists, curators, and artistic researchers to consider the relationship between art and the political imaginary. Engaging with Ariella Aïsha Azoulay’s notion of potential history, the program uses the port city of Marseille as a lens to think about decoloniality and the repair of shared worlds. The school includes presentations, workshops, collective meals, and public programs.
The program is free. Travel to and from Marseille, accommodation in collective rented apartments, mid-day meals, and workshop materials are covered by the Summer School.
Open to artistic researchers from any discipline, students, doctoral candidates, artists, architects, or cultural workers. Participants must be present for the entire nine-day period in Marseille (June 28 – July 6, 2026) and attend an online introductory session in May 2026.
Apply by clicking the apply box on the vacancy page. Selection is based on a statement of intention (800 words max) outlining your investment in the political imaginary. Applicants may include links to a website or social media. Interviews may be held on February 3rd and 4th, 2026.
