City of Ventura Parks & Recreation Department
The City of Ventura Parks & Recreation Department's Arts & Culture Section is seeking professional artists or artist teams for a permanent tiled sculpture to be installed alongside a new pedestrian walkway. The artwork should reflect Ventura's surf culture and marine ecosystem. Proposals must be durable, low-maintenance, and site-responsive to the coastal environment. Selected artists will progress through a two-round selection process involving design concept refinement and a commission decision by the Arts & Culture Commission.
A total project budget of $165,000 including design, fabrication, and installation costs.
Applicants must be professional artists or artist teams, 18 years or older, legally authorized to work in the United States, and must reside and work in the State of California.
Artists must submit an online application via the City of Ventura website including a Letter of Interest, Resume/CV, Portfolio (5-8 examples), Preliminary Concept Proposal, and a Preliminary Budget Estimate.
