Kolaj Institute
Kolaj Institute is seeking submissions for two residency programs in Spring 2026: 'The Elusive X' (Virtual) and 'Fragment as Verse on the Wall' (In-Person). These residencies explore the intersection of poetry and collage, looking at found poetry, collage poems, and fragmented text as visual art. The virtual residency is led by Jennifer Roche and concentrates on bringing visceral linguistic precision together with material collage. The in-person residency in New Orleans, led by Ric Kasini Kadour, focuses on creating work for the 'The Fragment as Verse' exhibition at the Kolaj Institute Gallery. Participants will participate in workshops, share work for feedback, and consider how collage poetry operates on both the printed page and the gallery wall.
Access to residency sessions, guest speaker presentations, use of studio and material library in New Orleans, and potential publication in the PoetryXCollage journal and inclusion in the gallery exhibition. Virtual residency costs $600; in-person costs $750; both cost $1200. $250 grants are available to offset fees.
Open to self-motivated writers, poets, and visual artists at any career stage. Applicants must be over the age of 21 and can be from anywhere in the world. Artists must be interested in working at the intersection of poetry and collage.
Applications must be submitted through the Kolaj Institute Submittable portal provided in the call details.
