About the Open Call

The Africa-Europe Partnerships For Culture is a 30 Mio. EUR programme funded by the European Union and implemented by the Goethe-Institut, Expertise France, Institut Francais, UNESCO and EUNIC Global. It aims to re-shape cultural cooperation, exchange, co-creation and dissemination within Africa as well as between Africa and Europe whilst promoting intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding. The programme was developed with artists and cultural professionals from Sub-Saharan Africa to ensure that African voices are centred during the implementation phase. The Southern Africa Component of the Africa-Europe Partnerships For Culture is implemented by the Goethe-Institut and UNESCO. The stream implemented by the Goethe-Institut focuses on strengthening cooperation between heritage organisations and artists to co-create narratives around cultural heritage sites and practices. It supports 16 heritage organisations to work with interdisciplinary groups of artists, creating contemporary and innovative narratives with relevance across southern Africa, Africa and Europe. Beyond that, the project provides structural funding for heritage organisations and facilitates capacity building and networking opportunities.

What is Offered

Grants up to 55,000 EUR for heritage organisations; grants of up to 10,000–15,000 EUR for creative and artistic practitioners (to follow); structural funding; creative collaborations; capacity building; networking opportunities.

Requirements

Heritage organisations that manage heritage sites or are closely connected to heritage practices. Organisations are expected to work with interdisciplinary groups of artists.
