Call for Proposals: 2026 Symposium “Vision and Veiling: Photographic Resilience and Sociopolitical Change”

About the Open Call

This symposium offers a platform for scholarship that investigates the adaptability of photography and photo history in the face of constraints, whether cultural, governmental, institutional, or editorial. We invite submissions of 15-minute talks related to topics such as photographic exhibitions in complex contexts, image circulation on social media, privacy, surveillance, archives, and the aesthetics of photographic concealment.

What is Offered

Selected applicants will deliver a 15-minute talk at the virtual symposium held from November 5–7, 2026.

Requirements

We welcome interdisciplinary approaches, and we especially encourage international scholars to submit.
