Call for Instruments: Out of Control

About the Open Call

Out of Control is an event challenging participants to build outrageous, bizarre, and functional MIDI controllers that are operated by any part of the body except the hands. The project must be fully functional and produce MIDI notes and CC values. Selected entries will be presented at a jam session on June 29, 2026. Awards will be given in three categories: Most Mind-Blowing, Most Likely to Get You Stopped at Airport Security, and Best Controller for Lovers.

What is Offered

Performance opportunity at a live jam session and the chance to win one of three thematic awards.

Requirements

The controller must be fully functional, produce MIDI notes and CC values, and be operated without the use of hands (e.g., feet, shoulders, nose).
