Call for films & projects

About the Open Call

The call for non-fiction films and projects for Visions du Réel’s 2026 edition is open. We are looking for films for the Official Selection, including International Feature Film Competition, Burning Lights Competition, National Competition, International Medium Length and Short Film Competition, Wide Angle, and Opening Scenes. We are also looking for projects for VdR–Industry activities, such as VdR–Pitching, VdR–Work in Progress, VdR–Rough Cut Lab, and VdR–Development Lab. Projects are presented in VdR–Industry for the first time at their current stage. The specific regulations for each activity are available directly on their respective pages.

What is Offered

Selected films will be screened in the Official Selection of Visions du Réel International Film Festival Nyon, with films in the International Feature Film Competition and International Medium Length and Short Film Competition being Academy Award®-Qualifying. Projects selected for VdR–Industry activities will receive opportunities for presentation and development, including VdR–Pitching, VdR–Work in Progress, VdR–Rough Cut Lab, and VdR–Development Lab.

Requirements

Films must be non-fiction and screened in world, international or European premiere. Submissions of films only available for Swiss premiere will not be considered. Read Visions du Réel regulations for detailed requirements.
