The Kirkland Art Center
The Kirkland Art Center is seeking exhibition proposals for the 2026 – 2028 seasons. Group exhibitions, collaborations, and curated proposals are all welcome. The KAC Exhibition Committee, comprised of working artists, museum professionals, and KAC staff, typically curates artists into exhibitions of 1 – 3 artists. Any artist who can deliver work to the gallery (in person or shipped) may submit a proposal. Artwork derived from the copyrighted images of others should not be submitted. Selected artists must exhibit work consistent with the images and proposals shown in their application. Most media are welcome (painting, photography, sculpture, printmaking, installations, performance, etc.); video and work in digital form, unfortunately, cannot be exhibited in our facility unless the artist provides all necessary equipment. The Kirkland Art Center has showcased the work of regional and national artists for over 50 years. We are accepting submissions for future exhibitions. Artists at all stages in their art careers are invited to submit. Artists should keep in mind the need for a consistent and strong body of work when submitting. Submissions are considered for solo and group exhibitions. The Kirkland Art Center gallery is housed in a former church with uninterrupted wall space along two 47-foot walls with 14-foot ceilings. Adjustable track lighting runs parallel to each wall. Works that sell while on exhibit at KAC are subject to a 30% commission; the artist retains 70%. Please take this into consideration when assigning artwork prices. Works listed as NFS (not for sale) should still list an insurance value. The committee convenes for the selection process once every two years.
Publicity (website, press releases, social media coverage via Facebook, Instagram, and e-newsletter), opening reception with refreshments, all artwork insured while on premises, and 70% commission on works sold.
Artists must submit a complete proposal including 10 images that accurately represent their body of work (files no larger than 300 dpi, not exceeding 2 MB each, named 1_Lastname_Firstname_Title, etc.), an image list, CV/Resume, artist statement (max 250 words), and artist biography (150 words). Artists must be able to deliver work to the gallery (in person or shipped) and are responsible for transportation costs, transit insurance, appropriate framing/presentation, and providing images, bio, and artist statement. For video and digital work, the artist must provide all necessary equipment. Artwork must be consistent with the images and proposals submitted. Artwork derived from copyrighted images of others should not be submitted.
Submit online via Google Form. Application checklist includes: 10 images (no larger than 300 dpi, not exceeding 2 MB per file, saved as 1_Lastname_Firstname_Title, etc. corresponding to image list), an image list (number, title, medium, size, year, price or insurance value), CV/Resume, Artist statement (maximum 250 words), and Artist biography (150 words).
