About the Open Call

Create! Magazine is excited to announce our latest international call for art: Lightness of Being —a global virtual exhibition and professionally designed artist catalog, juried by renowned artist and curator Sergio Gomez. This juried art opportunity invites emerging and established artists to explore the idea of lightness —emotionally, spiritually, physically, or metaphorically. How do we access moments of ease or clarity during life’s transformations? What does it mean to navigate the space between vulnerability and joy, or gravity and grace? Artists from all backgrounds and disciplines are encouraged to apply. Sergio Gomez is an internationally acclaimed visual artist, curator, educator, and creative entrepreneur. He serves as Director of Exhibitions at the Zhou B. Art Center (Chicago), is the founder of 33 Contemporary Gallery, and co-founder of Art NXT Level® Academy. This artist open call accepts artwork in Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Photography, Fiber and Textile Art, Digital Art, Mixed Media, Collage, Installation (catalog-only representation). Selected artists will receive inclusion in the Lightness of Being virtual group exhibition and catalog, a two-page spread in the digital + printed artist catalog, a curatorial statement written by Sergio Gomez, a spotlight feature on the Create! Magazine blog, and social media promotion to over 270,000+ followers. Three artists will receive Curator’s Choice Awards: First Place (Full-page feature in a future print issue of Create! Magazine, $800 value), Second Place (Interview and article on the Create! Magazine website, $200 value), and Third Place (One-year digital subscription to Create! Magazine, $99 value).

Requirements

Artists from all backgrounds and disciplines, emerging and established, are encouraged to apply. Submission requires an entry fee of $35 for up to 3 artworks, with additional images at $5 per image (up to 10 artworks total).
