About the Open Call

Blue Mountain Center (BMC) is a working community of writers, artists, and activists located in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. The 2026 residency sessions are scheduled for June 19–July 17, July 24–August 21, and September 4–October 2. BMC provides a tech-limited environment to foster focus; cell phones are prohibited in common spaces and there is no internet access in private rooms or studios.

Residency sessions featuring a working community environment and housing in the Adirondack Mountains.

Requirements

Available for activists, filmmakers, visual artists, writers, composers, and audio storytellers. Applicants must submit a bio, project statement, community interest statement, and work samples. Residents may attend a maximum of two out of every four years.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted online via Submittable. Applicants must provide a biographical sketch, a statement of intent, a community living statement, referral information, a work sample relative to their genre, and session preferences, along with the $25 application fee.
