Stripped of color, images are distilled to their purest elements—light and shadow, line and form, tone and texture. Black and white photography asks us to see differently, to find emotion and meaning in the subtleties of contrast and composition. Whether stark and dramatic or soft and poetic, these works remind us that simplicity can hold immense depth. We welcome all approaches: traditional darkroom prints, digital black and white photography, toned or alternative processes, and experimental interpretations of the theme. Subject matter is open, from landscapes and portraits to abstractions and documentary work, as long as the work embraces the monochrome vision.
First Place winner receives $500 and a Solo Online Exhibition. Second Place receives $300. Third Place receives $200. Juror’s Awards and Honorable Mentions. All selected photographers are featured in the Sanctuary exhibition, a professionally designed catalog (print & digital), a YouTube video showcase, and social media promotions. Top award winners receive a free catalog.
Artists are invited to submit black and white photographic works. Accepted file formats are JPEG, with a minimum resolution of 2100px and a maximum size of 4MB each (300 dpi accepted). Each file should be titled with the artist's name and the title of the work.
