About the Open Call

UPWARD gallery invites artists aged 18 and older to submit work for the 'Bizarre' juried art exhibition. Acceptable mediums include traditional art (oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, mixed media, gouache, egg tempera, pen and ink; drawing media like graphite, charcoal, colored pencils, scratch board, markers, metal point), digital painting, and arts and crafts (beadwork, pottery, embroidery, floristry, batik, stained glass, two-dimensional collage and fabric art). Submissions must not contain AI-generated content, profanity, or political artwork. Each participant receives a personal page on the UPWARD gallery displaying their submitted works, a short biography, artist statement, and links to their website and social media. Winners are announced on December 19, 2025.

What is Offered

Participants receive a personal artist page on the UPWARD gallery website, featuring submitted works, biography, artist statement, and links to personal sites and social media. Winners are interviewed for publication in UPWARD’s Quarterly and on the website, receive digital certificates (1st, 2nd, 3rd place, Merit Awards, Honorable Mention, Finalist, and participation), and selected works are presented in the quarterly printed edition and curated online galleries, along with social media promotion.

Requirements

Artists must be 18 years or older. Submissions can be in any medium, style, and genre, but must not include AI-generated content, profanity, or political artwork. An application fee is required.

How to Apply

Artists are encouraged to submit their work through the UPWARD gallery platform. An application fee of $15 for a single entry applies, with reduced fees for multiple entries.
