The Basic Income for the Arts (BIA) is a government scheme providing financial support to professional practicing artists. The scheme is designed to incentivise creative growth, counter earnings instability, and support the arts sector. Applicants must demonstrate an active professional artistic practice and be based in the Republic of Ireland. The application process requires the completion of a mandatory survey and the submission of three proofs of eligibility. Funding is limited to 2,000 participants selected via an anonymized random sampling process. Participants will be required to engage in ongoing research and annual audits.
€325 per week paid monthly (€1,413.21) for 3 years (2026-2029).
Must be 18+ years old, professional practicing artist, based in the Republic of Ireland, tax compliant, and capable of providing three proofs of professional artistic activity.
