The 2026 festival is part of the 'Common Lands' project, considering the Isle of Portland as a microcosm to explore connections to land, locality, and community. The specific theme, 'That Other Place', invites artists to reawaken the experience of the historic Portland Fair in a stranger, twistier, sideways way—creating a parallel universe or mirror-island where weird echoes and alternate histories come out to play.
An artist fee of up to £2500 per commission.
Open to artists working in any medium (visual, performance, sonic, digital, installation) at any stage of their career. Proposals should respond to the Isle of Portland's stories, landscapes, and the specific theme of the parallel fair.
Applications must be made via the Curatorspace portal. Applicants must provide a proposal, information about their practice (portfolio, links, CV), early thoughts on site/participation, resource requirements, and an outline budget. Video proposals are also accepted.
