About the Open Call

“Try Try Zine” foregrounds zines as tools of inquiry — small, self-published works that connect archives, print culture, libraries, and artistic practice. The residency grows from AAA’s expanding Zine Collection, which documents alternative histories and grassroots publishing in Asia. Selected residents are invited to research AAA Collections onsite at the AAA Library and online, and to produce a new zine that responds to their research. They are also encouraged to consider how zines can activate the archive as a living, participatory space. Participants selected for the residency will receive: Production budget: up to HK$5,000 Honorarium: HK$3,000 Access to AAA Collections (physical and digital) and library facilities Work infrastructure: reading tables, computers, Wi-Fi, photocopier/scanner Staff support and guidance throughout the residency period Library access is available Monday to Saturday, 10am–6pm during the residency.
