ArtsIceland
ArtsIceland, in collaboration with Outvert Art Space, offers artists and other art professionals space to live and work for 4-12 weeks in the Westfjords of Iceland. We offer two residencies with a private room and a private studio year-round for visual artists, writers, designers, filmmakers, musicians and others who may profit from the environment/spaces on offer. Kitchen facilities are shared. During the summer months, we also offer three residencies with a private room, shared studio space, and other facilities in a separate building. Residency periods are from September 2025 to December 2026. Minimum stay is 4 weeks, maximum stay is 12 weeks. Priority will be given to those who apply for longer periods. Artists pay a moderate fee for their stay. The residency fee covers accommodation and studio space (e.g., Studio A: €720/4 weeks, Studio B: €660/4 weeks, Studio C: €580/4 weeks). All other costs are the responsibility of the artist. We do not offer scholarships or stipends but gladly assist artists applying for funding by providing a letter of support. Selected artists will be requested to sign an agreement with ArtsIceland upon their arrival at the residency, detailing dates, included services (bedding, towels, water, electricity, heating, internet), deposit payment, staff assistance, and artist expectations (cleaning, artist talks, etc.). The residency is situated in the center of Ísafjörður, a small town with food stores, bistros, bakeries, a library, swimming pool, and bus stops all within walking distance. The Westfjords are a mountainous area with easily accessible wild nature. Artists in residence staying for 8 weeks or longer can apply for use of the Outvert Art Space for exhibitions or other events without an extra fee.
