About the Open Call

Artsbox is a vibrant, intimate, converted shipping container studio based outside Footscray Library that is used for short-term artist residencies. This versatile space with small kitchenette and plumbed sink, split system air conditioning and large tables is suited for a variety of media, including those that require a wet room. The program offers six-week residencies suited to the development of new work, testing and exploring ideas, or the development of your arts practice. Artists are encouraged to work on creative projects that use the Footscray Library Collection and/or connect to the library’s programming and community.

What is Offered

Six-week residency in a shipping container studio, $1,000 stipend toward artist fees/materials, access to library resources (printing, conference room), and marketing support.

Requirements

Open to artists of all disciplines who live, work, or study in Melbourne’s West or can demonstrate a connection to the City of Maribyrnong.
