About the Open Call

Artists & Mothers is committed to supporting artists who identify as mothers at an inflection point in their careers. Eligible to New York City-based artists with children under the age of three, awardees will receive a grant for $25,000 to be used for childcare expenses with the provider of their choice. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to their practice and must have an exhibition history. We invite artists within the field of contemporary art to apply, which can include painting, sculpture, installation, new media, performance art, and socially-engaged forms. Application Open: October 27, 2025 to January 2, 2026. Application Deadline: January 2, 2026 11:59 PM Eastern Time/New York Time. Notification of chosen Grantees: April 2026. Public announcement of recipients: June 2026. Funds to grantees received: September 2026. Artists & Mothers has invited a jury of arts professionals to serve in the review process. Selection will be based on artistic merit, financial need, and diversity within the cohort.

Requirements

Eligible artists must identify as mothers, be New York City-based with children under the age of three. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to their practice and have an exhibition history. Artists should be within the field of contemporary art. Specific eligibility includes US Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident status, working artists with at least five years of professional commitment to their practice, applicants must have a child three years of age or younger as of December 31, 2026, and must live in one of the five boroughs of New York City.
