The Steel Yard
The Steel Yard’s residency program assists artists in growing and strengthening their creative industrial art practice. Residents receive an all-access pass to a 10,000 square foot studio, tools, resources, and community. Participants work in a shared studio space alongside a cohort of industrial artists, participating in events, sales, and exhibitions. The program includes access to professional development, teaching opportunities, and cross-departmental critiques. Options range from one-month Micro-Residencies to one-year long-term residencies.
Access to a 10,000 square foot studio and industrial tools, exhibition and sales opportunities, professional development, and participation in a collaborative artist community.
Selection is based on the artistic merit of submitted work, alignment with organizational mission and values, a desire to be part of a community, and the ability to work safely and independently in the studio.
Applications must be submitted through the online portal. Applicants need to provide a current CV/resume, ten digital images of recent work with an image list, a brief artist bio, a narrative statement, and one reference. Interested artists are encouraged to attend the live virtual info session on January 15, 2026.
