About the Open Call

Artist Meets Archive kicks off its fifth edition (2026/27), offering a unique residency and exhibition program by Internationale Photoszene Köln. Artists are invited to delve into diverse photographic holdings, stories, and discourses across participating institutions. The archives highlight the versatility of photography as reportage, feminist activism, urban history, and dance history, focusing on the intersection of analogue and digital organization. Selected artists will develop explorations and projects based on these collections.

What is Offered

Residency and exhibition program with access to specialized photographic archives; supported by the City of Cologne and the Ministry of Culture and Science of NRW.

Requirements

Artists must choose a specific archive and submit a project proposal that interacts with the archive's holdings and discourses.
