About the Open Call

Art Exchange: Moving Image is a cross-cultural curatorial development programme designed to strengthen the practice of early to mid-career visual arts curators from Sub-Saharan Africa engaging with moving image. Delivered by Breinstorm Brand Architects and IQOQO with British Council support, the program includes online mentoring, a fully funded research residency in the UK, and grants for curators to deliver exhibitions in their local contexts using works from the British Council Collection and local artists.

Requirements

Applicants must be 18+, based in Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda or Zimbabwe, and be early to mid-career visual arts curators. Proficiency in English and a valid passport through November 2026 are required. Applicants must not be in full-time education and must be available for a UK residency in May 2026.

Applicants must upload a CV, a 2-page curatorial proposal, and a signed letter of support from a proposed exhibition host venue. Optional video applications are also accepted.
