A Celebration of Swans is an annual festival held each April at the Swan Haven Interpretive Centre at M’Clintock Bay on Marsh Lake. Each year, the Department of Environment’s Wildlife Viewing Program, with support from Yukon Energy, produces a limited-edition poster showcasing an artwork that celebrates spring and the seasonal return of swans. Posters are free and distributed throughout Yukon. Yukon Wildlife Viewing encourages Yukon-based artists, including those early in their careers, to submit original artwork. The selected artist will receive an honorarium of $500. Note: If your artwork includes swans—whether realistic or abstract—please use Trumpeter Swans or Tundra Swans as reference. These species are native to North America and typically have mostly black bills. Swans with yellow bills resemble the Mute Swan, which is not native to this region.
