About the Open Call

AFAC’s Creative and Critical Writings grant provides support to critical arts and culture writing, children’s and youth literature (including both adaptation and original work), graphic novels, short stories and poetry, in addition to digital publishing platforms. The final product must be in Arabic. The program provides annual grants to support production, research, and development phases. Grants may cover materials, space or equipment rentals, and artistic fees.

What is Offered

Grants up to USD 20,000 for individuals and teams, and up to USD 35,000 for collectives and institutions. Covers production costs and artist fees (up to 30%).

Requirements

Open to individuals from the 22 Arab League member states (regardless of residence) and local or international institutions with Arab-related arts projects. The final project output must be in Arabic. Applicants must not have an open grant with AFAC or have received grants in the two consecutive preceding years.
