About the Open Call

This opportunity is for early to mid-career artists who want to grow their practice, build peer connections, and share their journey with the wider Axis community. The Fellowship runs in two phases: October to December 2025 and February to April 2026. Only members who are fully committed to actively participating in monthly meetings, mentoring sessions, and creating promotional content should apply. We are looking for dedicated artists ready to invest time and effort into their professional growth and engagement, willing to share their development with our members over the year. Axis champions and supports contemporary visual arts in the UK, making art accessible and engaging for all. With over 10,000 members and hosting more than 100 showcases, events, and talks annually, Axis is at the forefront of the contemporary visual arts scene. Founded in 1991, we promote the diversity of contemporary art and support artists through resources, opportunities, and platforms. As an independent charity, we operate beyond the influence of public funding bodies, ensuring our projects align with our mission and values. Our initiatives are driven by our dialogue with artists, ensuring we meet the actual needs of the contemporary art community. The Axis Fellowship is self-financed and not supported by public subsidy.

What is Offered

Fellows will receive: £4,000 artist development funding. Monthly cohort sessions with fellow artists. One-to-one mentoring from Axis staff and guest mentors. Tailored digital content to share their practice. Profile-raising support via Axis’s platforms and social media channels.

Requirements

To be eligible, you must: Be based in the UK. Be an Axis Member. Be part of the Axis Community (logged in, agreed to the guidelines, and introduced yourself in the Hello thread). Two (2) are open to Professional Members who have held Professional Membership for at least 12 months by the application deadline. One (1) is open to all other Axis Members, including newer members who pay a £15 Fellowship Eligibility Top-Up when applying.
