About the Open Call

Gallery Ring announces an online contest and exhibition all about animals from tame to wild and from sweet to ferocious, including birds, fish and all aquatic and amphibian life forms. Eligible media include two-dimensional work done by hand such as paintings and drawings, photography, digital, mixed-media, print work, and collage. Sculpture, crafts, jewellery, fabric art, video, and sound are ineligible. AI work is ineligible unless it is employed in a minimal fashion and only accounts for a small percentage of the work. Gallery Ring looks for originality, mastery of medium, strong overall design and composition, creative and clear interpretation of theme, and a solid, arresting impression and intention in each artwork. An Artist Statement of maximum 150 words is recommended but not required; it should explain the artist’s purpose and inspiration. Image requirements specify only one artwork and one frontal viewpoint per image, not exceeding 2MB, in JPG format, labeled as Last name-Title of Art.jpg, cropped to show only the artwork, without frames, mat, other backgrounds, or watermarks, and must be clear, without glares, and in focus. All artists will be notified about the results via email when the show is posted online, approximately one to two weeks after the deadline, receiving digital Award Certificates, Award Pages, Plaques, and Vouchers. Artwork does not have to be for sale; Gallery Ring does not handle sales or take commission but will direct inquiries to the artist. Upon submission, artists are added to Gallery Ring’s email list for announcements. Once the submission deadline is reached, no image substitutions or changes are permitted. All artwork must be original. Offensive, violent, vulgar, distasteful, negative, or political artwork is unacceptable, as is artwork previously shown on this site. All decisions are final, and selected artwork must remain in the exhibition for its entire duration. Artists' contact information will not be shared. Gallery Ring reserves the right to cancel, extend, or change dates or content. By submitting, artists whose artwork is selected grant Gallery Ring usage rights for display, promotion, marketing, email newsletters, press releases, and use on their website, Instagram, and Youtube Channel, with the artist's name displayed. The artwork and artist's name will be archived. The artist maintains all copyrights, and images will not be resold, copied, exchanged, or downloaded.

What is Offered

Many awards are available: Best In Show (wins free-entry voucher), Golden Trio Award, Diamond Awards of Excellence, Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald Awards, Crystal Awards, Awards of Merit and Honourable Mention Awards. All winners receive a digital Award Certificate and top winners also receive a special Award Page announcing the news, which is ideal for use on websites, clientele newsletter lists and social media. Top winning artwork will be featured in a special Winners Video on Gallery Ring's Youtube channel and 3D Rotation Gallery on the home page of the site.

Requirements

Artists must be 18 years or older and be able to communicate in English or Spanish. They can be emerging or established artists. All artwork must be original and not done with help from teachers or copied from work by other artists or photographers. Artwork that is offensive, violent, vulgar, distasteful or negative in any way against humans or animals is unacceptable. Political artwork is unacceptable. Artwork must not have been previously shown on the Gallery Ring site.
