Alfonso Crujera
The Electro-etching residency introduces artists to an alternative technique of intaglio etching using a completely non-toxic electrical process, avoiding harmful acids. Held at the workshop and residence of master printmaker Alfonso Crujera in Gran Canaria, Spain, the residency lasts between two weeks to one month. Participants learn to prepare electrolytes, set up electro-etching units, and apply various electrolytic techniques to copper and zinc plates. The facility includes a 70m2 workshop available 24/7 and a private studio apartment in a restored coastal farmhouse.
Specialized instruction in non-toxic electro-etching, 24/7 access to a 70m2 workshop, private studio apartment accommodation, and guidance on setting up personal electro-etching units.
Submission of the official registration form is required. For the specific annual grant, applicants must be postgraduates in Fine Arts or Printmaking and under the age of thirty. General residency participants must secure their own funding.
