About the Open Call

This unique residency combines studio time, solitude, and community engagement in a distinctive architectural and natural setting. The resident artist lives and works at the Dome House while producing new creative work and contributing to public art experiences in Door County. The program is part of a long-running partnership between the Dome House and the Miller Art Museum, which supports artistic development and cultural exchange in the region.

An artist residency for the 2026 season.

Requirements

Applicants must be artists residing in one of the U.S. Midwest states (including IL, IN, IA, KS, MI, MN, MO, NE, ND, OH, SD, or WI). Selected artist commits to an 8-week residency from August 2 to September 27, 2026. Artist must be prepared for public engagement, including workshops, talks, or open studio events during the residency. Artist receives a $500 stipend to support project or living expenses. Residency includes housing and studio space at the Dome House; artists cover personal living expenses and any additional materials not provided. Artists must use non-toxic materials and adhere to environmental and safety guidelines due to the site’s unique setting.
