About the Open Call

The 42nd edition of Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg (June 2-7, 2026) is a qualifying festival for the British BAFTA Awards, BIFA, and the European Film Awards. It features several competitions including International, German, and the theme-based Triple Axel Competition (2026 theme: 'Three'). The festival also hosts the Junges Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg - Mo&Friese for young audiences.

What is Offered

Prizes worth a total of €15,500; Triple Axel audience prize of €1,000; ECFA Short Film Award nomination; qualification for BAFTA and BIFA.

Requirements

Films of all genres with a maximum running time of 30 minutes (3 minutes for Triple Axel). Production date requirements: after January 2025 for International/German competitions, and after January 2024 for Mo&Friese and Triple Axel.
