The selected proposal will be realized as a suspended public art installation in Palmer Alley, transforming the space into an immersive artistic environment visible to thousands of visitors each year. The project aims to highlight the intersection of fashion, architecture, design, and contemporary culture in one of downtown Washington’s most prominent public spaces. The winning artist or team will receive a $10,000 honorarium, along with up to $100,000 in production funding to fabricate and install the project. Technical support for engineering and fabrication may also be provided through professional partners to ensure the installation can be safely realized in the public space.
he call is open to U.S.-based professional artists and creative teams aged 18 or older. Eligible applicants include visual artists, fashion and costume designers, architects, sculptors, set designers, students, and multidisciplinary creators. Proposals should present an original concept for a site-specific installation that reflects the theme of American style and its cultural significance. Submissions must be original works not previously submitted to other competitions and must comply with guidelines regarding intellectual property and public presentation.
