About the Open Call

Visitor Center Artist Camp (VCAC) provides a rustic, two-week residency program. The program offers two tracks: the Wild Clay Workshop, which involves harvesting and processing local clay with firing instruction, and the Independent Project track, which supports land art, installations, writing, and performance. The camp emphasizes community living, featuring communal meals, camping, and outdoor work spaces in the Michigan forest.

What is Offered

Three meals per day, camping grounds access, solar-showers, composting outhouses, indoor/outdoor work spaces, project assistance, and guided field trips.

Requirements

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age. Full COVID-19 vaccination and current boosters are required for all residents and staff.

How to Apply

Submit an online application including a Statement of Interest, Experience with the Medium, and Proposals for Independent Projects. After review, candidates will perform a brief interview with the team. Upon acceptance, a $300 deposit is required to reserve a spot.
