THIRDSPACE: Emerging Artist Summer Residency is a month-long program that brings together a dynamic group of interdisciplinary emerging artists. This year's theme, 'Staging the Unseen,' invites artists to explore storytelling beyond convention using text, image, sound, and video. Participants engage in narrative as world-building—challenging dominant stories and revealing hidden perspectives. Over four weeks, artists benefit from dedicated studio space, skill-building workshops in technical and conceptual areas, and custom-curated tours of Toronto’s galleries and artist-run spaces. The residency culminates in a public exhibition at the OCAD U Graduate Gallery.
One month of studio access, technical and conceptual workshops, mentorship from Erdem Taşdelen, field trips, guest talks, and a final public exhibition.
Open to visual artists and designers in the final stages of post-secondary education or those with equivalent experience through independent practice. Must be proficient in written and spoken English. Applicants must submit a portfolio of 5-12 works and a statement of intent through SlideRoom.
Submit the online application form. Upon submission, you will receive an email with a SlideRoom link to provide a portfolio of 5–12 examples of work and a written statement of intent (maximum 250 words per question).
