About the Open Call

Artists and writers of international, national, and Texas origin are invited to apply for 2-month, fully-funded studio residencies at the Corsicana Artist and Writer Residency. Residents will produce work in rare scale and focus with generous support and vast, immersive space, in an historic setting fifty miles south of Dallas, Texas. Residents are hosted at 100 West, an 11,000 square-foot, former Odd Fellows lodge virtually unaltered since its 1890s construction, preserved and minimally furnished. Private artist studios are 2,400 square-feet; writing studio is 600 square-feet; kitchen and dining room are shared. Quiet studio focus is prioritized, balanced with introductions to professional networks in the Dallas-Fort Worth region, culminating with Open Studios at the close of term. The residency takes place in downtown Corsicana, a historically rich town. The program offers Winter (Jan 5 - Feb 24, 2026), Spring (Mar 2 - Apr 28, 2026), and Fall (Oct 12 - Dec 8, 2026) terms. Funding covers all studio and lodging accommodations and public programming. Residents are responsible for a one-time, non-refundable $200 Administration Fee paid by November 1, 2025. Travel, meal, material, and research expenses are the resident's responsibility. The building is accessible only by steep staircase without an elevator. The residency welcomes all nationalities, races, gender identifications, and sexual orientations.
