2026 NYS CHOREOGRAPHERS INITIATIVE (NYSCI)

About the Open Call

The application portal for the 2026 NYS Choreographers Initiative (NYSCI) opened on August 15, 2025, with an application deadline of December 3, 2025. Choreographers are encouraged to start thinking about a mentor early, and consultations are available via email. Guidelines for the initiative are available on the NYS DanceForce website. NYSCI is designed to help choreographers develop their skills and advance their creative practice by providing them with substantial resources. Awardees each receive a $2,500 stipend, a $2,000 stipend for a mentor of their choice, and up to $7,500 for project-related expenses. The initiative is a program of the NYS DanceForce in partnership with the New York State Council on the Arts.

What is Offered

The initiative is open to choreographers working in New York State.
