About the Open Call

The Boston Printmakers Biennial 2026 is the North American Print Biennial, a prestigious exhibition presenting contemporary and traditional printmaking. Juried by Esther Adler, Curator in the Department of Drawings and Prints at The Museum of Modern Art, New York. The exhibition will be held from September 8 – November 21, 2026, at 808 Gallery, Boston University, Boston, Massachusetts. Eligibility is open to North American artists aged 18 and older, submitting original, innovative works in printmaking media created between 2023-2026. A total of $10,000 is available in juror-designated purchase prizes and materials awards, with purchase prizes entering permanent collections at major institutions. The exhibition also facilitates direct art sales. The application period runs from July 15, 2025, to February 15, 2026, via callforentry.org. Accepted works must adhere to specific framing and shipping guidelines, including the use of black metal or wooden frames with Plexiglas. An entry fee of $50 USD for non-members and $35 USD for members applies for up to three submissions. Notifications will be emailed by April 1, 2026. The Boston Printmakers' mission is to promote public knowledge, encourage artists, and promote excellence in printmaking.

Requirements

North American artists 18 years and older are eligible. Original, innovative works in all printmaking media are eligible. Photographs, offset reproductions, or reproductions of artwork originally produced in another medium will not be considered. Submitted work may not have been exhibited in any other Boston Printmakers exhibition. Artists may submit up to three digital images of original prints completed within the time frame of 2023-2026. All delivered work must match juried image, framed in simple black metal or black wooden frames (maximum ½” thick) with Plexiglas and standard white/off-white window mat (minimum 3 inches wide). Frames must be ready to hang with wire or D-rings. Alternative presentation must be described in entry. Shipped work must be in sturdy, reusable packaging, sent pre-paid via UPS with a pre-paid return-shipping label including insurance. Work not protected by a frame may not be covered by gallery insurance. Artists outside the U.S. unable to provide a return UPS label will be billed for return shipping.

All entries must be submitted online at www.callforentry.org. Review all entry information carefully before submitting. No changes can be made once submitted. Upload requirements: JPEG format, minimum 1920 pixels on longer side, 72 ppi/dpi, maximum 5 MB.
