About the Open Call

This national salon focuses specifically on small-format representational oil paintings, emphasizing technical mastery in draftsmanship, color, and composition. Approximately 180 works will be selected, representing a wide range of subject matter such as landscape, still life, and figurative painting. The exhibition aims to celebrate both diversity of style and adherence to traditional oil painting practices, while also offering significant professional exposure and awards totaling up to around $20,000.

Requirements

Applicants must be members of Oil Painters of America and submit their entries online during the open submission period. Artists may enter multiple works, but only one painting can ultimately be accepted. All submissions must be original, representational oil paintings created on a single surface, meeting specific size limitations (small-format works) and presentation standards suitable for gallery display. Selected works must also be available for sale and demonstrate a high level of technical skill and craftsmanship.
