About the Open Call
The MCBA Prize honors excellence in new work from across the dynamic spectrum of book art, including unique book objects, altered books, graphic novels, zines, concrete poetry, and conceptual works. Juried selection will determine 20-30 semi-finalists, five finalists, and one winner. Finalists must participate in a virtual prize reveal. Works will be exhibited at MCBA from August 29 to November 29, 2026.
What is Offered
Four finalists receive a $500 cash prize; one winner receives a $2,000 cash prize. Semi-finalists and finalists will have their work featured in a gallery exhibition.
Requirements
The primary impetus for the creation of the work must come from the vision of the artist or artistic collaborators. Integrity of form, materials, and content is a determining criteria. Related works on paper, journals, and blank books are excluded.
