About the Open Call

The 2026 Art Seen Festival focuses on community-centered mural making in the Village of Sanford. The selected artist will design a mural for Harry’s Sewer (17' 4" Tall x 36' 4" Wide) that allows for community participation via a paint-by-number style. The design should incorporate themes of community, resilience, and hope, using the existing building color as a base. All materials and equipment are provided.

What is Offered

Selected artist receives a $7,500 stipend. Round two finalists receive a $300 stipend for proposal development. Paint and materials are provided by the festival.

Requirements

Artists must be at least 18 years old and reside in the Great Lakes Bay Region of Michigan. Artists must carry their own liability insurance and be available for the duration of the festival (June 12-15, 2026). Work must be original and family-friendly.

Applicants must fill out the online Google Form linked on the opportunity page and email a portfolio of 3-10 images and a recent resume to artseenfestival@gmail.com.
