The selected Poet Laureate will act as an ambassador for Glendale, promoting poetry through community engagement. The role requires the development of four community workshops per year, the composition of at least five poems (including one celebrating the city's diversity for official meetings and four for the library's website), participation in at least four additional special events, and the delivery of one curated community poetry anthology. The term is for one year from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027.
$8,000 compensation for the one-year term plus a separate material and supply budget of up to $8,000.
Applicants must be over 18 years of age, reside in Glendale, have a history of publishing and/or performing poetry, experience with teaching, public speaking, and/or community service, and the ability to commit to serving in the role for at least one year.
