About the Open Call

Absolute Space Artist-in-Residence provides professional artists with a dedicated creative environment located at the boundary between Tainan’s historic West Central District and the South District. The program offers two facilities: Sanho Art Lab and Absolute Space X Residency. Artists can engage with the local temple culture and vibrant art scene. The self-funded model allows artists to rent private or shared studios and accommodations, with access to basic tools, internet, and utilities. The program encourages interdisciplinary practices and cultural dialogue through optional exhibition space rentals and local networking.

What is Offered

Living accommodation, studio space (private or shared), basic utilities (water, electricity, internet), basic tools, bicycle rental, and optional exhibition venue rental.

Requirements

Open to contemporary visual artists and curators of all nationalities; must be at least 20 years old; must have sufficient proficiency in Chinese or English; submission of a single PDF containing application form, CV, portfolio, and project proposal.

How to Apply

Applications are accepted online via email. Applicants must download the application form from the provided Google Drive link and combine it with a resume/CV, artist statement, portfolio of works from the past three years, and a project proposal into a single PDF. The file should be named 'LastName_FirstName' and emailed to absolutespaceair@gmail.com with the subject line '2025 Absolute Space AIR Self-funded Residency Application'.
