About the Open Call

Hypha Studios is looking for artists and curators for its new gallery hub at 1 Poultry, City of London, launching Frieze Week 2025. This presents a unique opportunity to organize an exhibition in one of the world’s most important postmodern buildings, designed by architect James Stirling. Gallery 1 and 3 are rotating contemporary curated exhibition spaces, while Gallery 2, in collaboration with recessed.space, is for architects or artists proposing projects related to the built environment or the history of No. 1 Poultry. The gallery spaces measure 330 sqm/3500 sqft (Gallery 1), 130 sqm/1400 sqft (Gallery 2), and 150 sqm/1600 sqft (Gallery 3). The units will be prepared to resemble conventional galleries with white walls and removed window vinyls. Occupancy slots are available from Sept–Oct (including Frieze Week), Oct–Nov, and Nov–Dec, with ongoing opportunities. Flexibility regarding slot preference is encouraged.

What is Offered

Free exhibition space for the awarded period, with opportunities to organize public-facing events such as workshops and talks.

Requirements

Applicants must apply as a group with a lead artist or curator. The awarded space must be used a minimum of four days a week during the occupancy period, with public opening hours agreed in advance. In return for the free space, successful applicants are required to organize public-facing events alongside their exhibition to support their creative practices. Priority will be given to those who cannot afford exhibition or studio space.
